Scholarship and Grant Opportunities from CGFOA

  • Scholarship for College Students
    • The George A. Nielsen Public Investor Scholarship is awarded to a current or prospective student who is enrolled or plans to enroll in an undergraduate or graduate program in public administration, finance, business administration, or a related field. This is a $5,000 scholarship (may be awarded as two $2,500 separate scholarships) given in honor of George A. Nielsen: a friend, supporter, and educator of public finance officials around the state of Colorado. The 2026 application has closed.

  • Grant for CGFOA Membership Dues
    • Grant funding is available for CGFOA Membership dues. The application is here. Our Scholarship Committee reviews submissions on a rolling basis as they are received.

  • Grant for Virtual Education Sessions
    • Grant funding is available for our CGFOA virtual education sessions. Application coming soon. Our Scholarship Committee reviews submissions on a rolling basis as they are received.

  • Grant for Registration Fees for CGFOA's Annual Fall Conference
    • Full and partial registration grants are available for our Annual Fall Conference. Application is here and will close on September 15th.

  • GFOA CPFO Program Enrollment Grant
    • Current CGFOA and GFOA members who are actively working in Government Finance and are interested in enrolling in the CPFO certification program can apply for this grant funding towards their enrollment fee. We typically award 4 annual grants of $1200 each - two in the spring and two in the fall. This funding will cover the $1,200 fee for two years of participation in the CPFO program. The application deadline is September 15, 2026. Application here.
