Volunteer Roles

Executive Board

Executive Board members participate in transacting the business of the Association; deciding policy matters; deciding the time, place and program of meetings; making and executing contracts for the Association; studying all matters referred to it by members of the Association; and performing other duties pertaining to the advancement, welfare and the best interest of the Association and members. The Executive Board shall establish procedures and internal controls for the proper manner of receiving and disbursing funds, provide for an annual inspection of the Association’s accounts and annually adopt a budget for the following year.

Estimated Time Commitment: 20 hours per month for a 2 year term

Committee Chairs

Responsible for providing leadership and direction to special committees, such as education committees or scholarship committees, to advance CGFOA's strategic direction. Committee chairs ensure committee meetings happen, are well organized, well attended and that the appropriate work is accomplished.

Estimated Time Commitment: 10 hours per month for a 2 year term

Events (Social, Golf, Conferences, Moderators)

Assist with programs, events, and activities organized by the CGFOA. Event volunteers work cooperatively as a team member to complete specific volunteer assignments on the day of the event or days leading up to an event.

Estimated Time Commitment: 2-8 hours per event

Committees/Task Forces

Committee members attend meetings and work with other members of the committee to execute on tasks. Members prepare for and participate fully in meetings, contribute positively to the discussions, and fulfill responsibilities assigned to them. 

Estimated Time Commitment: 6 hours per month for 1 year

CGFOA Presenters and Speakers

Volunteer speakers deliver educational talks to CGFOA members in the interest of advancing the practice of public finance. Speakers are responsible for developing and delivering educational content. 

Estimated Time Commitment: 2-6 hours per event

CGFOA Committees and Coalitions

CTAC (Colorado Tax Audit Coalition)

The purpose of this coalition is to provide educational opportunities to improve the practice of local government in the area of sales tax and network to form closer relationships and understanding among those concerned with sales tax in Colorado.
